1 1/2 cups walnuts
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1 Tbsp Madhava Organic Pure & Raw Honey
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup Madhava Organic Coconut Sugar
1 tsp lemon zest
Juice of 1/2 small lemon
Fall in love with apples all over again in this sweet little tart, made with a wholesome nutty crust (no flour!), lightly sweetened and filled with some of the best flavors of the season. Fancy apple slice arrangement not required—but since you eat with your eyes first, why take the risk?
To assemble crust, blend all crust ingredients in a food processor and press firmly into a 6″ tart tin with a removable bottom.
To assemble filling, first slice apples thinly with a sharp paring knife. (Mandoline is not necessary here, but would be helpful!) In a bowl, mix apple slices and remaining ingredients until apples are nicely coated. Arrange in a pleasing pattern on top of crust.
Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes, or until crust has browned and apples are very tender. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
